Navy Bike Ride 2024 - Ottawa, ON

The application period for Soldier On members wishing to participate in the NAVY BIKE RIDE - OTTAWA on 15 JUNE 2024 is now open. The application deadline is 30 APRIL 2024.

AIM AND SCOPE OF EVENT:  

THIS APPLICATION FORM IS ONLY FOR THE OTTAWA LEG OF THE EVENT

The Royal Canadian Navy’s footprint can be found all across the country so we invite you to celebrate our coast-to-coast-to-coast Navy presence by taking part in the Ottawa leg of the 2024 Navy Bike Ride as a part of Team Soldier On! The Navy Bike Ride (NBR) is open to riders of all ages and skills and the Ottawa leg will have a 5KM run/walk component as well. Selected participants can complete either the run/walk or the ride. 

We are excited to announce that we've been invited to assemble a team for the Navy Bike Ride - Ottawa 2024.

The number of sponsored Soldier On participants is limited to 12.

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA: Any serving member or veteran of the Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) from the NCR REGION who acquired a permanent physical or mental health illness or injury while enrolled as a member of the CAF; whether attributable or not to service.

Selected Serving members will require the approval of their Chain of Command to participate. 

DRAFT SCHEDULE OF EVENTS:

Date: Saturday June 15th, 2024
Location: H.M.C.S Carleton, 79 Prince of Wales Dr.

Draft Schedule:
15 minutes prior to start time: participants arrive 
Start time: Participant depart for group ride 
12:00 (approx.) – End of event. Participants to depart on own following completion of their ride.

5 K Run/Walk: 
Start time: 8:30 a.m.
Cycling Ride: 
Start times: 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.

TRANSPORTATION & MEALS:
Participants are advised that meals and transportation will not be provided by Soldier On for this event. Participants will be required to arrange their own travel to and from the event location, travel and meals are not eligible for reimbursement for this event

Mental & Physical Requirements:
Participants must be able to tolerate 1-3 hours of light to moderate paced activities for the day. Due to the busy activity schedule, applicants must have a limited requirement for rest throughout the day.  

Participants will be joined with other ill/injured members and civilians, and therefore should be able to function in a social environment.  Applicants are advised that they may be exposed to a military environment. Applicants also acknowledge that there will be no alcohol allowed during the event.

COMMUNICABLE DISEASE PREVENTION:
Soldier On, PSP and CAF TG aim to provide a safe environment for all participants and staff. To ensure everyone’s safety, applicants understand that they should aim to adopt personal practices focused on communicable disease prevention such as health awareness, staying home when sick and regular hand cleaning to help prevent the spread.
