Edmonton Oilers Alumni Golf Day - Edmonton, AB

The application period for Soldier On members wishing to participate in the Soldier On Edmonton Oilers Alumni Golf Day on 26 June 2024 is now open. The application deadline is 22 May 2024.

AIM AND SCOPE OF EVENT:  
Soldier On in collaboration with the Edmonton Garrison Memorial Golf and Curling Club and the Edmonton Oilers Alumni team, is happy to announce it will be hosting the Soldier On Edmonton Oilers Alumni Golf Day on 26 June 24. Selected Soldier On members from Edmonton, AB geographical area will be afforded the opportunity to attend a one day golf clinic that will include 1 hour of instruction and 18 holes of golf alongside the Edmonton Oilers Alumni.  

The aim and scope of this camp will be to improve current skill levels by revisiting the fundamentals and swing mechanics in a golf clinic setting.

The number of Soldier On participants is limited to 11.

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA: 
Any serving member or veteran of the Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) from the Edmonton geographical area who acquired a permanent physical or mental health illness or injury while enrolled as a member of the CAF; whether attributable or not to service.

Selected Serving members will require the approval of their Chain of Command to participate. 

**Participants are responsible for providing their own clubs and will be required to abide by the golf course outlined dress code.

DRAFT SCHEDULE OF EVENTS:
11:00: Golf instruction as the EGMGCC driving range 
12:00: Group lunch 
13:00: x 5 tee times commence (Best ball structure) 
18:00: Wrap up 

TRANSPORTATION & MEALS:
Participants are advised that transportation will not be provided by Soldier On for this event. Participants will be required to arrange their own travel to and from the event location. The following meals will be provided during the event: Lunch.

MENTAL & PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: 
Applicants must be able to tolerate 6-7 hours of light/moderate paced activities for 6-7 hours in a row. Due to the busy activity schedule, applicants must have a limited requirement for rest throughout the day. 

Applicants will be joined with other ill/injured members and civilians, and therefore should be able to function in a social environment. Applicants are advised that the activity and meal for this event is located at Canadian Armed Forces bases/facilities, and thus they may be exposed to a day-to-day military environment.

COMMUNICABLE DISEASE PREVENTION:
Soldier On, PSP and CAF TG aim to provide a safe environment for all participants and staff. To ensure everyone’s safety, applicants understand that they should aim to adopt personal practices focused on communicable disease prevention such as health awareness, staying home when sick and regular hand cleaning to help prevent the spread.
