The Edmonton Elks Experience - Edmonton, AB

The application period for Soldier On members wishing to participate in the Edmonton Elks Experience on 30 May 24 is now open. The application deadline is 6 May 24.

AIM AND SCOPE OF EVENT:  

Soldier On in collaboration with the Edmonton Elks Alumni will be hosting a one day skills and drills camp at Commonwealth stadium.  The Edmonton Elks alumni will host 3-4 drills that will capture mobility, pass catching and you will also have the opportunity to kick a field goal.  The day will wrap up with a two hand touch scrimmage and supper in the alumni lounge.  

The number of Soldier On participants is limited to 30.

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA: 
Any serving member or veteran of the Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) from the Alberta Region who acquired a permanent physical or mental health illness or injury while enrolled as a member of the CAF; whether attributable or not to service.  * Please note that there is no accommodations or travel assistance associated with this event.   

Selected Serving members will require the approval of their Chain of Command to participate. 

DRAFT SCHEDULE OF EVENTS:

30 May 24
16:20: arrival at commonwealth parking lot 
16:25: welcome brief and introductions
17:00: skills and drills commence
19:00: skills and drills end
19:30: pizza and beverages in Alumni Lounge 

14 June 24 (optional/participants will receive x2 tickets each)
*Travel assistance not provided
19:00:  Attend Elks vs Montreal Alouettes home game. 

TRANSPORTATION & MEALS:
Participants are advised that transportation and accommodations will not be provided by Soldier On for this event. Participants will be required to arrange their own travel to and from the event location. The following meals will be provided during the event: Late supper on 30 May 24

Mental & Physical Requirements:
Applicants must be able to tolerate 3 hours of moderate/high paced activities for 3 hours in a row. Due to the busy activity schedule, applicants must have a limited requirement for rest throughout the day. 

 The Edmonton Elks alumni will host 3-4 drills that will capture mobility, pass catching and you will also have the opportunity to kick a field goal.

Applicants will be joined with other ill/injured members and civilians, and therefore should be able to function in a social environment.

To ensure everyone’s safety, applicants understand that they should aim to adopt personal practices focused on communicable disease prevention such as health awareness, staying home when sick and regular hand cleaning to help prevent the spread.
