Navy Bike Ride 2024 - Halifax, NS

The application period for Soldier On members wishing to participate in the Navy Bike Ride 8 June 2024 is now open. The application deadline is 3 May 2024.

AIM AND SCOPE OF EVENT:  
Navy Bike Ride (NBR) 2024 will be a recreational bike ride on the Shearwater Flyer Trail! Soldier On is looking for participants to join team Soldier On and represent the organization at the 2024 Navy Bike Ride (NBR. To celebrate the Centennial of the Naval Reserve, Soldier On will join the cycling community to complete a 15km, 30km or 37km Royal Canadian Navy Ride (RCN Ride), representing the 24 Naval Reserve Divisions and four Naval Headquarters across Canada.

The number of Soldier On participants is limited to 12.

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA: 
Any serving member or veteran of the Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) within two hours drive from the event location who acquired a permanent physical or mental health illness or injury while enrolled as a member of the CAF; whether attributable or not to service.

Selected Serving members will require the approval of their Chain of Command to participate. 

DRAFT SCHEDULE OF EVENTS:
8 June 2024, per event registration starts at 930 followed by a wing welcome brief. All distances have the same start time departing at 1000. There will be post event snack's & water available at the PSP tent on your return.

TRANSPORTATION & MEALS:
Participants are advised that meals and transportation will not be provided by Soldier On for this event. Participants will be required to arrange their own travel to and from the event location, travel and meals are not eligible for reimbursement for this event.

Mental & Physical Requirements:
Applicants must be able to tolerate 1-5 hours of light/moderate paced activity for the day. Due to the busy activity schedule, applicants must have a limited requirement for rest throughout the day. 

Applicants require to have their own bike and safety gear.

Applicants will be joined with other ill/injured members and civilians, and therefore should be able to function in a social environment. Applicants are advised that they may be exposed to a military environment.

Soldier On, PSP and CAF TG aim to provide a safe environment for all participants and staff. To ensure everyone’s safety, applicants understand that they should aim to adopt personal practices focused on communicable disease prevention such as health awareness, staying home when sick and regular hand cleaning to help prevent the spread.
