Saint John Golf Camp - NB

The application period for Soldier On members wishing to participate in the Saint John Golf Camp, 11-12 June is now open. The application deadline is 17 May 24.

AIM AND SCOPE OF EVENT: 
Soldier On is inviting members to participate in a 1 day golf camp at the Hampton Golf Course and then join teams for a fundraising tournament the next day at the Riverside Golf Club to benefit Soldier On. 

Participants are responsible for providing their own clubs, have experience golfing a full round of 18 and will be required to abide by the golf courses’ outlined dress codes.

The number of Soldier On participants is limited to 16.

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA: 
Any serving member or veteran of the Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) from within 2 hours of the Saint John, NB area who acquired a permanent physical or mental health illness or injury while enrolled as a member of the CAF; whether attributable or not to service.

Selected Serving members will require the approval of their Chain of Command to participate. 

DRAFT SCHEDULE OF EVENTS:

Tuesday 11 June - Hampton Golf Club
• 1000hrs – Welcome brief and Skills Clinic
• 1200hrs - Lunch- Sit down meal provided at Par 6 restaurant
• 1300hrs – Round of 18 with guest pros and staff

Wednesday 12 June - Riverside Golf Club
• Morning – Registration and Welcome address
• Lunch – BBQ Tickets provided
• Afternoon - Golf with provided team
• Evening – Dinner, Banquet and silent auction.

TRANSPORTATION & MEALS:
Participants are advised that meals and transportation will not be provided by Soldier On for this event. Participants will be required to arrange their own travel to and from the event location, travel and meals are not eligible for reimbursement for this event.

Mental & Physical Requirements:
Participants must be able to tolerate 4-6 hours of moderate) paced activities for 2 days in a row. Due to the busy activity schedule, applicants must have a limited requirement for rest throughout the day.

Participants must provide their own set of golf clubs and be able to physically swing a club and walk some distance along the course, carts will be provided.

Applicants will be joined with other ill/injured members and civilians, and therefore should be able to function in a very social environment.

Soldier On, PSP and CAF TG aim to provide a safe environment for all participants and staff. To ensure everyone’s safety, applicants understand that they should aim to adopt personal practices focused on communicable disease prevention such as health awareness, staying home when sick and regular hand cleaning to help prevent the spread.
