Ottawa Redblacks Experience

The application period for Soldier On members wishing to participate in the OTTAWA REDBLACKS SKILLS & DRILLS on 14 OCTOBER 2025 is now open. The application deadline is 8 SEPT 2025.

AIM AND SCOPE OF EVENT:  
Soldier On, in collaboration with the Ottawa Redblacks, will host an Ottawa Redblacks experience which will include an introduction to football, some skills/drills practice alongside Redblacks players and dinner in Ottawa, ON. Regardless of the current skill level, the participants will receive expert coaching through skills and srills. This event will be a one-day event conducted on 14 OCT 2025.

The number of Soldier On participants is limited to 40.

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA: 
Any serving member or veteran of the Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) from WITHIN A 2 HOUR DRIVE OF the NCR (travel costs will NOT be covered for this event), who acquired a permanent physical or mental health illness or injury while enrolled as a member of the CAF; whether attributable or not to service.

Selected Serving members will require the approval of their Chain of Command to participate.

1845hrs: Dinner at nearby restaurant

2015hrs: Wrap up and departure

Participants will receive x2 complementary tickets for the Ottawa Redblacks game on 18 Oct 2025 – all other costs and coordination for attending this game are the responsibility of the participant.

TRANSPORTATION & MEALS:
Participants are advised that transportation will NOT be provided by Soldier On for this event. Participants will be required to arrange their own travel to and from the event location. The following meals will be provided during the event: Dinner at a local restaurant.

Mental & Physical Requirements:
The event is not fully adaptive as members will be required to walk/jog/run upright throughout the drills.  

Participants must be able to tolerate 1 hour of NO CONTACT moderate to high paced activities for 1 day. 

Due to the busy activity schedule, applicants must have a limited requirement for rest throughout the day.  

Participants will be joined with other ill/injured members and civilians, and potentially by military leadership, therefore should be able to function in a respectful social environment.
