PEI Deep Sea Fishing Adventure

The application period for Soldier On members wishing to participate in the PEI Deep Sea Fishing Adventure, 17 September 2025 is now open. The application deadline is 26 August 2025.

AIM AND SCOPE OF EVENT:  
Join us for an unforgettable 3-hour deep sea fishing experience with Richard’s Deep Sea Fishing, departing from scenic Covehead Harbour in Prince Edward Island National Park — just 15 minutes from Charlottetown. Everything you need is provided: rods, bait, tackle, and even fish cleaning! Whether you're new to fishing or an experienced angler, this is a fun and relaxing way to experience PEI’s coastal charm.

The number of Soldier On participants is limited to 14.

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA: 
Any serving member or veteran of the Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) from the Prince Edward Island who acquired a permanent physical or mental health illness or injury while enrolled as a member of the CAF; whether attributable or not to service.

Selected Serving members will require the approval of their Chain of Command to participate. 

DRAFT SCHEDULE OF EVENTS:
17 September 2025
1245hrs- Arrival to Harbour and check in with the Soldier On Coordinator
1300hrs-Boat departs for fishing and instruction
1600hrs-Boat will return to Harbour, participant depart

TRANSPORTATION & MEALS:
Participants are advised that meals and transportation will not be provided by Soldier On for this event. Participants will be required to arrange their own travel to and from the event location, travel and meals are not eligible for reimbursement for this event.

Mental & Physical Requirements:
Participants should be prepared to spend up to 3 hours on a small fishing vessel in open water, which may involve exposure to sun, wind, light rain, and mild ocean swells. A moderate level of physical ability is required, including the ability to stand or sit for extended periods, walk short distances on uneven or slippery surfaces (such as docks and boat decks), maintain balance on a moving boat, and operate basic fishing equipment such as rods and reels. Participants should also be comfortable handling fish and following safety instructions in a group setting. If you are prone to seasickness, please take appropriate preventative measures.

Applicants will be joined with other ill/injured members and civilians, and therefore should be able to function in a social environment.
