Southern Ontario Fly Fishing - Caledon, On

The application period for Soldier On members wishing to participate in Southern Ontario Fly Fishing Caledon Ontario, 7-10 OCT 2025 is now open. The application deadline is 1 Sept 2025

AIM AND SCOPE OF EVENT: 
Soldier On will host the Soldier On Southern Ontario Fishing camp to be held near Welland ON 1-4 Oct 24. Participants will have the opportunity to discover fly fishing techniques, improve their existing abilities, and benefit from professional instruction.

The number of Soldier On participants is limited to 10.

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA: 
Any serving member or veteran of the Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) from the Southern Ontario area (Barrie, Toronto, Niagara Falls, London, Windsor, and Owen Sound) areas who acquired a permanent physical or mental health illness or injury while enrolled as a member of the CAF; whether attributable or not to service.

Selected Serving members will require the approval of their Chain of Command to participate. 

DRAFT SCHEDULE OF EVENTS:
Tuesday 7 Oct - arrive at fishing location, Caledon, ON. Evening fly fishing instruction and fly tying activities;
Wednesday 8 Oct- Fishing activities/instruction Caledon, ON;
Thursday 9 Oct - Fishing activities /instruction Caledon ON; and,
Friday 10 Oct - morning departure.

A detailed schedule will be provided to selected participants.

TRANSPORTATION, MEALS & ACCOMMODATIONS
Travel assistance will be provided and coordinated by the Soldier On Regional Coordinator in conjunction with Soldier On Operations. The most economical means of transportation to and from events will be prioritized and discussed with members via the event OPI or delegate.

Meals will be provided throughout the event. Meals purchased while traveling will be eligible for reimbursement.
Accommodations will be arranged and paid for by Soldier On.  Participants acknowledge that there will be no alcohol allowed in the accommodations.

*Accommodations are double Occupancy, 2 participants will be in one room.

Mental & Physical Requirements:

Applicants must be able to tolerate 5 hours of moderate paced activities for three days in a row. Due to the nature of this activity, applicants must have a limited requirement for rest throughout the day. Participants will be joined with other ill/injured members and civilians, and therefore should be able to function in a social environment.

Soldier On will provide accommodations, meals, and travel assistance throughout this event. Participants acknowledge that there will be no alcohol allowed in the accommodations and will be required to share accommodations.  Accommodations will be 2 participants per room.
