Equine Experience at Snider Mountain Ranch

The application period for Soldier On members wishing to participate in the Equine Experience at Snider Mountain Ranch from 26-29 September is now open. The application deadline is 1 September 2025.

AIM AND SCOPE OF EVENT:
Join Soldier On for a unique and empowering four-day Equine Experience at Snider Mountain Ranch. Set in a peaceful and scenic environment, participants will connect with horses through hands-on activities such as grooming, saddling, leading, and introductory riding. Guided by experienced facilitators, this program is designed to build confidence, trust, and personal growth—no prior horse experience is required. Please note: due to service provider requirements, there is a 250 lb weight limit for riding activities.

Participants will stay on-site at the Snider Mountain lodge in dual-occupancy bunk style rooms with share washroom facilities. Some participants will travel by group transportation or PMV based on their home location.

The number of Soldier On participants is limited to 16.


ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA: 
Any serving member or veteran of the Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) from the New Brunswick, PEI, Nova Scotia and , Newfoundland who acquired a permanent physical or mental health illness or injury while enrolled as a member of the CAF; whether attributable or not to service.

Selected Serving members will require the approval of their Chain of Command to participate.

TRANSPORTATION & MEALS:
Travel assistance and all meals will be provided and coordinated by the Soldier On Regional Coordinator in conjunction with Soldier On Operations and the Service Provider. The most economical means of transportation to and from events will be prioritized and discussed with members via the event OPI or delegate.

Mental & Physical Requirements:
Participants should be prepared for moderate physical activity for 6-8 hours with short breaks, including standing for extended periods, walking on uneven ground, lifting up to 25 lbs, and using core strength and balance while leading or riding horses. Mentally, participants should be comfortable around large animals, open to learning new skills, and able to stay focused during guided sessions. Shared accommodations and washroom facilities require a willingness to live and engage respectfully in a group/social environment.
