Come Cook with Us: The Dirty Apron

The application period for Soldier On members wishing to participate in the Come Cook with Us: The Dirty Apron on October 8th, 2025 from 1100-1500 is now open. The application deadline is 8 September 2025 @ 1200 PST.

AIM AND SCOPE OF EVENT:  
Is it breakfast? Is it lunch? No! It's BRUNCH! And who doesn't love Brunch! 

Have you ever wanted to learn how to make a make mouth-watering Cinnamon Brioche French Toast? or how to make the perfect Eggs Benedict? What about a savoury, smokey tomato cheddar scone from scratch? 

This event may be just what you're looking for. 

Soldier On is extremely excited to be working with The Dirty Apron on this one-day hands-on cooking course. During this four-hour experience, participants will have the opportunity to work with one of The Dirty Aprons Chefs to create and finesse this three-course brunch. Participants will alternate between in-kitchen sessions and in-dinning room sessions where they get to create and then eat! 

This is a wonderful opportunity to learn a few new kitchen skills and meet some Soldier On members in your community! 

The number of Soldier On participants is limited to 18.

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA: 
Any serving member or veteran of the Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) from the greater-Vancouver area, or within a 90-minute drive of Vancouver proper, who acquired a permanent physical or mental health illness or injury while enrolled as a member of the CAF; whether attributable or not to service.

Selected Serving members will require the approval of their Chain of Command to participate.

TRANSPORTATION & MEALS:
Participants are advised that meals and transportation will not be provided by Soldier On for this event. Participants will be required to arrange their own travel to and from the event location, travel and meals are not eligible for reimbursement for this event.

Mental & Physical Requirements:
Applicants must be able to tolerate 4 hours of light paced activities. Due to the busy activity schedule, applicants must have a limited requirement for rest throughout the day. 

Applicant must not be in violation of any MELs 

Applicant must maintain the dexterity to manipulate kitchen hand tools. 

Applicant must be comfortable working in small teams.

Applicants will be joined with other ill/injured members and civilians, and therefore should be able to function in a social environment. 

Applicants also acknowledge that there will be no alcohol allowed during this event.
