Veggie Garden To Go

The application period for Soldier On members wishing to participate in the VEGGIE GARDEN TO GO 25TH OF APRIL 2026 is now open. The application deadline is 8 APRIL 2026.

AIM AND SCOPE OF EVENT:
Soldier On is partnering with Veteran Farm Project Society in Sweets Corner NS to host a Veggie garden to go workshop. The workshop is an engaging, hands-on gardening experience designed to help participants learn how to grow fresh vegetables in small spaces. Perfect for beginners, this workshop teaches simple container gardening techniques while giving each participant a portable vegetable garden they can take home and grow.

Participants learn the essentials of container gardening including soil selection, plant placement, watering, sunlight requirements, and harvesting techniques. With guidance from the facilitator, each person plants their own vegetable container garden using easy-to-grow plants such as lettuce, spinach, herbs, and cherry tomatoes. The workshop focuses on practical learning and accessibility, demonstrating that growing fresh food is possible even in limited spaces such as patios, balconies, or small yards.

The number of Soldier On participants is limited to 15.

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA: 
Any serving member or veteran of the Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) from within two hours drive from the event location who acquired a permanent physical or mental health illness or injury while enrolled as a member of the CAF; whether attributable or not to service.

Selected Serving members will require the approval of their Chain of Command to participate.

25 April 2026 - 1000 -1200 Sweets Corner NS - West Hants (near Windsor NS)

TRANSPORTATION & MEALS:
Participants are advised that meals and transportation will not be provided by Soldier On for this event. Participants will be required to arrange their own travel to and from the event location, travel and meals are not eligible for reimbursement for this event.
