The application period for Soldier On members wishing to participate in the Atlantic Bass Fishing Event 4-7 May 2026 is now open.
The application deadline is 8 April 2026.
AIM AND SCOPE OF EVENT:
Soldier On invites members to apply for a guided Striped Bass fishing experience on the Miramichi River with the expert team at Upper Oxbow Outdoor Adventures. This event is a great opportunity to get outdoors, connect with fellow participants, and enjoy one of New Brunswick’s most exciting fisheries. Participants will spend two days on the water targeting the famous Miramichi Striped Bass while learning techniques, local knowledge, and safe fishing practices from experienced guides. Whether you are new to fishing or have some experience, this supportive and relaxed environment makes it easy to take part and enjoy the day.
All essential fishing equipment will be provided, travel an accommodations will be arranged by the Soldier On Team.

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA:
Any serving member or veteran of the Canadian Armed Forces (CAF)
from New Brunswick, PEI, Nova Scotia and Newfoundland who acquired a permanent physical or mental health illness or injury while enrolled as a member of the CAF; whether attributable or not to service.

DRAFT SCHEDULE OF EVENTS:
4 May
· 1700hrs-Arrive, get rooms and unpack;
· 1800hrs-Dinner
· 1900hrs-Bonfire/Yard Games/and Free Time
5-6 May (Flexible based on Guides info)
· 0800hrs – Breakfast
· 0900hr – Fishing
· 1200hrs – Lunch
· 1300hrs – Fishing
· 1700hrs – Return to Lodge
· 1800hrs – Dinner
· 1700hrs- Bonfire/Yard Games/and Free Time
· 2200hrs- Quiet Time
7 May
· 0800hrs – Breakfast; and
· 0900hrs – Submit claims, pack and depart for journey home.
TRANSPORTATION & MEALS:
Travel assistance will be provided and coordinated by the Soldier On Regional Coordinator in conjunction with Soldier On Operations. The most economical means of transportation to and from events will be prioritized and discussed with members via the event OPI or delegate.
Mental & Physical Requirements:
Applicants must be able to tolerate 6-8 hours of light paced activities for 2 days in a row. Due to the busy activity schedule, applicants must have a limited requirement for rest throughout the day.
Applicants should be comfortable spending time outdoors and on a boat for 3–4 hours at a time over two days. Fishing will involve long periods of sitting, light movement, casting, and reeling. Some balance and mobility are required to safely board and move around the boat and docks. Participants should also be prepared for changing weather conditions and uneven natural terrain.
Applicant should be comfortable participating in a small group setting, following safety instructions from guides, and adapting to outdoor conditions that may change throughout the day. Please note that washroom facilities will be limited to nature while on the water, and on-site accommodations will be used during the event. If you have specific needs or concerns, we encourage you to let the organizers know so we can support your participation as best as possible.
Applicants will be joined with other ill/injured members and civilians, and therefore should be able to function in a social environment.
