Forest Walk and Forage

The application period for Soldier On members wishing to participate in the Forest Walk and Forage Metcalfe Rock Ontario, 20 May 2026 is now open. The application deadline is 17 April 2026

AIM AND SCOPE OF EVENT:
This local Forest Walk and Forage event will serve as a unique and informative experience in the Southern Georgian Bay area. This 3 hour outing will be instructor led. Throughout the walk you will learn about the local flora and fauna, you will learn how to identify, harvest and prepare common edible plants. This event will take place in the area of Metcalf Rock on 20 May 2026, with Free Spirit Tours providing guides for this event.

The number of Soldier On participants is limited to 10.

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA:
Any serving member or veteran of the Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) from the Borden, Barrie, Meaford, Owen Sound area who acquired a permanent physical or mental health illness or injury while enrolled as a member of the CAF; whether attributable or not to service.

Selected Serving members will require the approval of their Chain of Command to participate. 

DRAFT SCHEDULE OF EVENTS:
Wednesday 20 May 2026 
09:50hrs - Arrival; 
1000-1300hrs - Forest Walk and Foredge; and 
13:10hrs - Departure.

TRANSPORTATION & MEALS:
Participants are advised that transportation and meals will not be provided by Soldier On for this event. Participants will be required to arrange their own travel to and from the event location.
