Glendenning Golf Day

The application period for Soldier On members wishing to participate in the Glendenning Golf Day 21 July 2025 is now open. The application deadline is 4 July 2025.

AIM AND SCOPE OF EVENT: 
Soldier On in partnership with Glendenning golf course will host members from St John's NL. The day will start with a group lesson run by Josh Courish Head Golf Professional. This event will offer participants the opportunity to learn from local pro during clinic and then get to play a round of 18 hole golf while connecting with peers who share a passion for golf, followed by a late lunch.

This basic clinic will help participants experience the ultimate enjoyment of golf while revisiting the fundamentals and improving current skill levels. Participants will receive expert instruction on golf techniques and strategy, to include, but are not limited to, full swing, chipping and putting.

The number of Soldier On participants is limited to 12.

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA: 
Any serving member or veteran of the Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) from within two hours drive from the event location (St-John, NL) who acquired a permanent physical or mental health illness or injury while enrolled as a member of the CAF; whether attributable or not to service.

Selected Serving members will require the approval of their Chain of Command to participate. 

DRAFT SCHEDULE OF EVENTS:
July 21, 2025 – Lesson at 9:00 AM, followed by tee times at 10:36, 10:44, and 10:52. Event concludes with a late lunch.

TRANSPORTATION & MEALS:
Participants are advised that transportation will not be provided by Soldier On for this event. Participants will be required to arrange their own travel to and from the event location. The following meals will be provided during the event: Lunch

Mental & Physical Requirements:
Participants must be able to tolerate 6-8 hours of moderate paced activities for 1 days in a row. Due to the busy activity schedule, applicants must have a limited requirement for rest throughout the day. Participants must be able to swing a golf club without issue and must not be in violation of their MELs.

All applicants must own their own equipment.

Applicants will be joined with other ill/injured members and civilians, and therefore should be able to function in a social environment.
