The Edmonton Riverhawks Event
The application period for Soldier On members wishing to participate in the Edmonton Riverhawks Game Day on 1 August 25 is now open.
The application deadline is 20 July 25.
AIM AND SCOPE OF EVENT:
Soldier On in collaboration with the Edmonton Riverhawks baseball team will be hosting a one day skills and drills camp on the Re/Max field. The Edmonton Riverhawks Staff will host 3 hours of skills & drills that will capture ground balls, fly balls, batting practice and a scrimmage at the end.
The number of Soldier On participants is limited to
18.
ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA:
Any serving member or veteran of the Canadian Armed Forces (CAF)
from the Edmonton Geographical area who acquired a permanent physical or mental health illness or injury while enrolled as a member of the CAF; whether attributable or not to service. Members from outside the Edmonton Geographical area are welcome to apply but
please note that there is no accommodations or travel assistance associated with this event.

Serving members will require the approval of their Chain of Command to participate.
DRAFT SCHEDULE OF EVENT:
1 Aug 25
12:50: Arrive at Re/Max field (potentially by POMV or DND bus, TBD)
13:00: Welcome Brief/Introductions
13:10: Stretch
13:25: Drills Commence
16:00: Drills End
16:30: Pizza/non-alc beverages at Re/Max field
19:00: Attend Riverhawks game vs Kelowna
*Note. Each participant will receive x2 tickets for the Rivershawks Game, you are welcome to invite a person of your choice.
TRANSPORTATION & MEALS:
Participants are advised that transportation and accommodations will not be provided by Soldier On for this event. Participants will be required to arrange their own travel to and from the event or pick up location.
Mental & Physical Requirements:
Applicants must be able to tolerate 5 hours of moderate/high paced activities for 5 hours in a row without extended rest periods. Due to the busy activity schedule, applicants must have a limited requirement for rest throughout the day.
The Edmonton Riverhawks coaching staff will host 3-4 drills baseball that will capture ground ball, fly balls, batting practice and a small scrimmage.
Applicants will be joined with other ill/injured members and civilians and therefore should be able to function and engage respectfully in a social environment as well as follow instructions.
