Calgary Area Ski/Snowboard Camp

The application period for Soldier On members wishing to participate in the Soldier On Calgary Area, Ski/Snowboard camp from 2-5 Mar 26 is now open. The application deadline is 25 Jan 26.

AIM AND SCOPE OF EVENT:
This activity will bring together ill and injured CAF members, allowing participants to connect through peer support and encourage a healthy lifestyle.   

The aim and scope of this event will be to introduce basic/intermediate alpine ski and snowboarding lessons, introduce and demonstrate that this is an adaptable sport open to any ability, but most of all - to have fun!!
   
The number of Soldier On participants is limited to 13.

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA: 
Any serving member or veteran of the Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) from Alberta and Northern Canada who acquired a permanent physical or mental health illness or injury while enrolled as a member of the CAF; whether attributable or not to service.

Selected Serving members will require the approval of their Chain of Command to participate. 

DRAFT SCHEDULE OF EVENTS: 

02 March (Travel day)
The intention would be to depart 3 CDSB Edmonton at 1300 hrs in DND trucks (for those living outside of the Calgary Region) 
1700 hrs Check into our hotel
1800 hrs: Group supper at the hotel (Ave 16 restaurant) 

03 March (Lessons) 
Group breakfast at hotel 
1000 hrs: On the hill (Canadian Olympic Park)
1015 hrs: Acquire gear if needed/meet your instructor 
1100-1300 hrs: Individual lessons 
1300 hrs: group lunch on hill 
1400-1600 hrs: Individual lessons
1800 hrs: Group supper at the hotel (Pizza night) 

04 March (Lessons)  
Group breakfast at hotel 
0800 hrs:  Depart for Mt Norquay 
0930-1130 hrs: Individual lessons 
1200 hrs: group lunch on hill 
1300-1500 hrs: Individual lessons
1800hrs: Group supper (the keg)

05 March (Travel day) 
Group Breakfast
Group Lunch (for those living outside of the Calgary Region) 
1300 hrs: Travel back to your residence 

TRANSPORTATION & MEALS:
Travel assistance will be provided and coordinated by the Soldier On Regional Coordinator in conjunction with Soldier On Operations for members living outside of the Calgary, AB geographical area. The most economical means of transportation to and from events will be prioritized and discussed with members via the event OPI or delegate.  DND trucks will transport participants from 3 CDSB Edmonton to Calgary/Canmore.
