Stained Glass - 2026 - Edmonton, AB

The application period for Soldier On members wishing to participate in the Edmonton Stained Glass event on 28 January 2026, is now open. The application deadline is 15 Jan 2026.

AIM AND SCOPE OF EVENT:  
Soldier On is excited to offer a creative event to the Edmonton area! 

Soldier On will be teaming up with Under the Sun Stained Glass and Art Studio for a 1-day stained glass clinic! Selected participants will have the opportunity to try out this centuries old art form. Participants will be introduced to the fundamentals as they work towards their take home project.  

*All projects created by participants will be theirs to take home. 

The number of Soldier On participants is limited to 20.

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA: 
Any serving member or veteran of the Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) from the Edmonton area (within 90min driving radius), who acquired a permanent physical or mental health illness or injury while enrolled as a member of the CAF; whether attributable or not to service.

Selected Serving members will require the approval of their Chain of Command to participate. 

DRAFT SCHEDULE OF EVENTS:

28 Jan 25: 
13:15: Arrive at Under the Sun studio
13:30 - 1600: Complete project (will have 3 options/poppy, heart or maple leaf) 

TRANSPORTATION & MEALS:
Participants are advised that meals and transportation will not be provided by Soldier On for this event. Participants will be required to arrange their own travel to and from the event location, travel and meals are not eligible for reimbursement for this event

Participants are encouraged to bring water and a snack to consume during the session. 

Mental & Physical Requirements:
Applicants must be able to tolerate 3 hours of light-to-moderate paced activities for 1 day. Due to the busy activity schedule, applicants must have a limited requirement for rest throughout the day. 

Applicants should not be in violation of MELs. 

Applicants should maintain general dexterity and strength in the hands and upper body to manipulate smaller tools, manipulate glass and glass working tools. 

Applicants should be aware that there will be long periods of sitting and standing. 

Applicants should maintain the ability to ambulate around a studio with small obstacles. 

Applicants will be joined with other ill/injured members and civilians, and therefore should be able to function in a social environment.
