Archery - Oromocto, NB

The application period for Soldier On members wishing to participate in the NB Archery, 17 & 18 March 2026 is now open. The application deadline is 19 February 2026.

AIM AND SCOPE OF EVENT: 
Join Soldier On for a relaxed archery event at the Gagetown Archery Club, featuring two 3-hour sessions over two days. Participants will receive hands-on instruction from experienced instructors, learn basic safety and shooting techniques, and enjoy time on the range in a supportive group setting. No previous archery experience is needed, and all equipment is provided. This event is a great opportunity to try something new, build confidence, and connect with others. 

The number of Soldier On participants is limited to 16.

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA: 
Any serving member or veteran of the Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) from New Brunswick who acquired a permanent physical or mental health illness or injury while enrolled as a member of the CAF; whether attributable or not to service.

Selected Serving members will require the approval of their Chain of Command to participate. 

DRAFT SCHEDULE OF EVENTS:
Tuesday 17 March: 1300hrs-1600hrs 
Wednesday 18 March 0900hrs-1200hrs

TRANSPORTATION & MEALS:
Selected participants who reside further than 1.5 hours driving distance of the Gagetown Archery Facility (H12) will have their mileage compensated as the policy established in the joining instructions and have the option to stay overnight on 17 March at Base Gagetown accommodations. A ration card will be provided for required meals during the stay.

Participants who reside within 1.5hrs driving distance of the Gagetown Archery Facility (H12) are advised that transportation will not be provided by Soldier On for this event. Participants will be required to arrange their own travel to and from the event location. 

Mental & Physical Requirements:
Participants should be able to take part in two 3-hour archery sessions over two days at a relaxed pace. The activity involves standing or sitting for moderate periods, using the hands, arms, shoulders, and upper body to draw and release a bow, and performing light lifting and carrying of equipment. Participants must be able to walk short distances on an indoor concrete floor and safely navigate the archery range. 

Mentally, participants should be able to focus for short periods, follow verbal instructions from instructors, and safely participate in a group setting. The event takes place in a social environment alongside other Soldier On participants and civilians, and requires appropriate awareness and communication to ensure a safe and positive experience for everyone.
