Prairie Winter Sports Camp - 2026 - Inglis, MB
The application period for Soldier On members wishing to participate in the Prairie Winter Sports Camp 02-06 Mar 26 is now open.
The application deadline is 06 Feb 26.
AIM AND SCOPE OF EVENT:
Soldier On in collaboration with Asessippi Ski Resport and The Russell Inn will conduct a three-day Winter sports camp at Asessippi Ski Resort. The event will see ten (10) Soldier On members participating in downhill skiing, snowboarding, adaptive skiing, snowshoeing, and tubing. This activity will bring together both serving and retired ill/injured CAF members, allowing participants to connect through peer support and encourage a healthy and creative lifestyle. The objective of this event will be to provide participants the opportunity participate in different winter sports, broadening their choices of recreational activities to stay active and healthy.
The number of Soldier On participants is limited to
10.
ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA:
Any serving member or veteran of the Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) from the
PRAIRIE REGION (MB/SK/NW ON) who acquired a permanent physical or mental health illness or injury while enrolled as a member of the CAF; whether attributable or not to service.
Selected
Serving members will require the approval of their Chain of Command to participate.
DRAFT SCHEDULE OF EVENTS:
Monday 02 Mar 26:
NLT 1700 hrs: Arrive at Russell Inn; &
1800-1900 hrs: Dinner and meet and greet.
Tuesday 03 Mar 26 - Thursday, 05 Mar 26:
0800-1700 hrs: Conduct winter sports activities; &
1900 hrs: Dinner at Russell Inn.
Friday 06 Mar 26:
0700-0800 hrs: Reveillee and breakfast at Russell Inn; &
0800-0830 hrs: Wrap up, pack up, and departure.
TRANSPORTATION & MEALS:
Transportation:
Travel assistance will be provided and coordinated by the Soldier On Regional Coordinator in conjunction with Soldier On Operations. The most economical means of transportation to and from events will be prioritized and discussed with members via the event OPI or delegate. Travel assistance will be provided as follows:
NW Ontario Participants:
All participants from NW ON will travel to and from Winnipeg via air and will be picked up at the Winnipeg airport by the event OPI. They will then travel by DND vehicle to and from Russell, MB
Winnipeg and Area Participants:
All Winnipeg and area participants will be picked up at 17 Wing and travel to and from Russell, MB via DND vehicle.
Shilo/Brandon Participants:
All Shilo/Brandon participants will be picked up in Brandon and travel to and from Russell, MB via DND vehicle.
Saskatchewan Participants:
All Saskatchewan participants will travel via POMV and should arrive at the Russell Inn no later than 1700 hrs.
Meals:
The following meals will be provided during the event:
Monday 02 Mar 26: - Lunch & Dinner.
Tuesday 03 Mar 26 - Thursday 05 Mar 25:-Breakfast, Lunch, & Dinner.
Friday 06 Mar 26: - Breakfast.
Mental & Physical Requirements:
Applicants must be able to tolerate
eight (8) hours of
moderate to
high paced activities for 3 days in a row. Due to the busy activity schedule, applicants must have a limited requirement for rest throughout the day.
Participants must be physically able to
downhill ski, snowboard, and snowshoe without issue or
being in violation of their MELs.
Applicants will be joined with other ill/injured members and civilians, and therefore should be able to function in a social environment.
Applicants acknowledge that there will be
no alcohol consumption at this event and that they will be required to share accommodations.
