Whistler Adaptive Rec Camp - 2026 - BC
The application period for Soldier On members wishing to participate in the Whistler Adaptive Rec Camp from August 20th to August 23rd, is now open.
The application deadline is 24 July 2026 @ 1200 PST.
AIM AND SCOPE OF EVENT:
Soldier On is excited to partner with the Whistler Adaptive Sports Program for a three-day adaptive outdoor adventure in the stunning mountain setting of Whistler, British Columbia. Participants will have the opportunity to experience a variety of adaptive outdoor activities, including outdoor yoga, hiking on local Whistler trails, water sports and biking led by certified guides from the Whistler Adaptive Sports Program. This event is designed to encourage participants to connect with nature, learn new skills, build confidence, and enjoy the outdoors alongside fellow Soldier On members in a welcoming and supportive environment. No prior experience is required, and there are no physical limitation criteria for participation. Whether you are new to adaptive sports or simply looking to try something different, this event offers a fun, inclusive, and rewarding opportunity to explore the beauty of Whistler.

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA:
Any serving member or veteran of the Canadian Armed Forces (CAF)
from Vancouver Island & greater-Vancouver area, who acquired a permanent physical or mental health illness or injury while enrolled as a member of the CAF; whether attributable or not to service.

Serving members will require the approval of their Chain of Command to participate.
DRAFT SCHEDULE OF EVENTS:
20 August: Travel day + outdoor pilates
21 August: Hiking day
22 August: Water sports + outdoor yin yoga
23 August: Half-day trail biking + travel day
TRANSPORTATION & MEALS:
Travel assistance will be provided and coordinated by the Soldier On Regional Coordinator in conjunction with Soldier On Operations. The most economical means of transportation to and from events will be prioritized and discussed with members via the event OPI or delegate.
Mental & Physical Requirements:
Applicants must be able to tolerate 8 hours of easy-paced activities per day.
Applicants must not be scared of water, riding bikes or seating in adaptive hiking chairs.
Applicants must not be in violation of any MELs.
Applicants must be comfortable working in small teams.
Applicants will be joined with other ill/injured members and civilians, and therefore should be able to function in a social environment.
Applicants also acknowledge that there will be no alcohol allowed during this event.
