Shilo Country Club Golf Day - 2026 - Shilo, MB

The application period for Soldier On members wishing to participate in the SHILO COUNTRY CLUB SOLDIER ON GOLF DAY 20 AUG 2026 is now open. The application deadline is 02 Aug 2026 at 1145 hrs central time.

AIM AND SCOPE OF EVENT: 
Soldier On, in collaboration with Shilo Country Club, will host the 10th Annual Shilo Country Club Soldier On Golf Day at CFB Shilo in Shilo, MB. This will be a one-day event held on Thursday, 20 August 2026.

This activity will bring together both serving and retired ill/injured CAF members, allowing participants to connect through peer support and encourage a healthy and active lifestyle. It will also provide an opportunity for Soldier On participants to learn basic golfing techniques through instruction and coaching.

The number of Soldier On participants is limited to 12.

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA: 
Any serving member or veteran of the Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) from the Brandon / Shilo area (& surrounding 100 km) who acquired a permanent physical or mental health illness or injury while enrolled as a member of the CAF; whether attributable or not to service.

Selected Serving members will require the approval of their Chain of Command to participate. 

DRAFT SCHEDULE OF EVENTS:

Thursday 20 Aug 2026:

-0915 hrs: Participants arrive at Shilo CC Pro Shop;

-0915 - 1130 hrs: Intro brief & golf instruction;

-1130 - 12 45 hrs: Lunch;

-1245 - 1730 hrs: Golf 18 holes; &

-1730 hrs: Event Complete.

TRANSPORTATION & MEALS:

Transportation:
Transportation will not be provided by Soldier On for this event. Participants will be required to arrange their own travel to and from the event location.

Meals:
Lunch will be provided for this event by Shilo Country Club.

Mental & Physical Requirements:
Applicants must be able to tolerate 6 hours of moderate paced activities. Due to the busy activity schedule, applicants must have a limited requirement for rest throughout the day. 

Participants must be able to swing a golf club without issue or being in violation of their MELs.

Applicants will be joined with other ill/injured members and civilians, and therefore should be able to function in a social environment. Applicants are advised that the activity and meals for this event is/may be located at Canadian Armed Forces bases/facilities, and thus they may be exposed to a day-to-day military environment. Applicants also acknowledge that there will be no alcohol allowed at this event.
