Rocky Mountain House Fly Fishing Event

The application period for Soldier On members wishing to participate in the Rocky Mountain House Fly fishing Event from either 13-14 July or 15-16 July 26 is now open. The application deadline is 23 June 26

AIM AND SCOPE OF EVENT: 
Soldier On in collaboration with the River Rat Fly Company will host a 2 day fly fishing event, located in the beautiful Rocky Mountain House, AB area.   Selected applicants will be introduced to the fundamentals of fly fishing, knots and rigging to set up a fly fishing system, casting instruction and will apply those skills out on the river.  

The number of Soldier On participants is limited to 8 (4 for each group).  

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA: Any serving member or veteran of the Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) located in the Calgary region who acquired a permanent physical or mental health illness or injury while enrolled as a member of the CAF; whether attributable or not to service.

Selected Serving members will require the approval of their Chain of Command to participate. 

DRAFT SCHEDULE OF EVENTS:
13 July 26   (Group 1 dates)

• 0900 Participants arrive
• 0905 Participants unload gear into cabins
• 0915 Welcome brief/Introductions of staff/participants
• 0945-1130 Group 1: Intro to fly fishing
• 1145-1230 Group lunch at CVSS retreat
• 1240 Depart for fly fishing
• 1330 Arrive at fishing spot
• 1345-1600 Guided fly fishing
• 1745 Group Supper

Participants will stay at the CVSS retreat in a single cabin accommodations for one night.     
14 July 26   (Group 1 dates)

• 0800-0830 Group breakfast
• 0900 Depart for fishing spot
• 1000-1200 Group 1 fly fishing
• 1200-1230 Group Lunch
• 1230-1600 fly fishing
• 1630 Depart for CVSS retreat
• 1730 Group Supper
• 1830 Departures
