Hike & Climb Adventure Camp - 2026 - BC

The application period for Soldier On members wishing to participate in the Hike & Climb Adventure Camp from June 10th to June 12th 2026, is now open. The application deadline is 29 May 2026 @ 1200 PST.

AIM AND SCOPE OF EVENT:  
Soldier On is excited to partner with Purple Rope Adventure School for an unforgettable 3-day outdoor adventure on beautiful Vancouver Island, taking place in the stunning Comox Valley and Strathcona Provincial Park. Participants will enjoy guided hike while learning practical survival skills and gaining a deeper appreciation for nature and introductory outdoor rock climbing experience led by certified guide Shawn Quintana. No prior experience is required, as this event is designed for beginners looking to learn new skills, build confidence, and enjoy an inspiring and supportive outdoor experience.

The number of Soldier On participants is limited to 6.

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA: 
Any serving member or veteran of the Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) from the greater-Comox/Courtney area, or within a 90-minute drive of the Comox proper, who acquired a permanent physical or mental health illness or injury while enrolled as a member of the CAF; whether attributable or not to service.

Selected Serving members will require the approval of their Chain of Command to participate. 

DRAFT SCHEDULE OF EVENTS:

10 June 2026 - Half Day Hike 
3 hour afternoon hike 
11 June 2026 - Full Day Outdoor Rock Climbing 
Full day of Outdoor Rock Climbing 
12 June 2026 - Half Day Hike
3 hour morning hike

TRANSPORTATION & MEALS:
Participants are advised that meals and transportation will not be provided by Soldier On for this event. Participants will be required to arrange their own travel to and from the event location, travel and meals are not eligible for reimbursement for this event

Mental & Physical Requirements:
Applicants must be able to tolerate 6 to 8 hours of mid-paced activities per day. 

Applicants must have sufficient upper and lower body strength to safely participate in climbing activities, including the ability to pull themselves upward while climbing and handle harness-in movements. 

Applicants will be required to walk on uneven terrain during hiking portions of the event.

Applicants must be able to tolerate heights, particularly during the climbing portion of the camp . 

Applicants must not be in violation of any MELs.

Applicants must be comfortable working in small teams.

Applicants will be joined with other ill/injured members and civilians, and therefore should be able to function in a social environment. 

Applicants also acknowledge that there will be no alcohol allowed during this event.
