Kintsugi for Beginners Workshop - 2026 - Toronto, ON

The application period for Soldier On members wishing to participate in the Kintsugi for Beginners workshop, Toronto Ontario, 17 November 2026 is now open. The application deadline is 23 Oct 2026.

AIM AND SCOPE OF EVENT:

This local event will serve as an introduction to the art of kintsugi, the traditional Japanese art of repairing broken pottery by mending the cracks with a natural lacquer dusted or mixed with powdered gold, silver, or platinum. Over a three hour class participants will be guided through the session with instructors and all participants will be able to take home their finished piece. Assistance throughout the event will be provided courtesy of Studio Mooi. All equipment and supplies will be provided to the participants for this event.

The number of Soldier On participants is limited to 10.

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA: 
Any serving member or veteran of the Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) from the GTA (Greater Toronto Area) who acquired a permanent physical or mental health illness or injury while enrolled as a member of the CAF; whether attributable or not to service.

Selected Serving members will require the approval of their Chain of Command to participate. 

DRAFT SCHEDULE OF EVENTS:

Tuesday 17 November 2026 
9:50 AM - Arrival; 
10:00-1300 - Instructor led Kintsugi workshop; and
13:10 PM - Departure.

TRANSPORTATION & MEALS:
Participants are advised that transportation and meals will not be provided by Soldier On for this event. Participants will be required to arrange their own travel to and from the event location. 

Mental & Physical Requirements:
Applicants must be able to tolerate 3 hours of moderate paced activities for the day. Participants will be joined with other ill/injured members and civilians, and therefore should be able to function in a social environment. Applicants also acknowledge that there will be no alcohol consumption allowed during the conduct of this event.
