Cape LaHave Island Multi-day Kayaking
The application period for Soldier On members wishing to participate in the Cape LaHave Island Multi-day Kayaking 28 - 30 July 2026 is now open. The application deadline is 1 July 2026.
AIM AND SCOPE OF EVENT:
In collaboration with Cape LaHave Adventures, Soldier On members will learn how to prepare for and participate in a multi-day sea kayaking excursion. Participants will develop foundational paddling skills and basic recovery techniques to support safe travel on the water, all under the guidance of experienced adventure guides. In addition, participants will receive hands-on instruction in basic water navigation skills.
This experience offers the opportunity to explore the LaHave Islands along Nova Scotia’s South Shore—one of the region’s premier sea kayaking destinations. Paddle to remote white-sand beaches, visit historic island lighthouses and fishing communities, and observe local wildlife, including seal colonies, in their natural habitat.
After a day on the water, participants will unwind at a beachside camp, enjoying locally sourced meals prepared over the campfire. Evenings are spent relaxing by the shore, with overnight accommodations in tents accompanied by the sound of the ocean.
Camping will take place directly on the beach, with all equipment provided (participants must bring their own sleeping bag). Participants will set up their own tents, use rustic backcountry facilities, and share hearty, campfire-cooked meals with the group. Weight limitation to ensure safe and appropriate equipment allocation.
