Sculpting Workshop - Pembroke, ON

The application period for Soldier On members wishing to participate in the E-ON Pembroke Sculpting Workshop on 4,5,6 November is now open. The application deadline is 17 October 2025.

AIM AND SCOPE OF EVENT: 
Soldier On, in collaboration with Bumpy Roads Studio, will host a 3-day Sculpting with Clay workshop on 4,5,6 November 2025 in Pembroke, ON.  Each session will be 3 hours in duration from 0900-1200 daily. Instruction is provided and participants will learn about the basic sculpting practices and the equipment.  To allow the sculptures to cure following the event, members will be required to return and pick up their completed work within 4-5 weeks of the event. A signed Bumpy Roads liability waiver from participants will be required in order to participate.

About the Instructor:
Originally born in raised in Mattawa, Ontario, Peter Purdy is a multidisciplinary Anishnaabe artist who studied at the Ottawa School of Art in both fine art and traditional hand drawn animation and since been working within the arts throughout the Capital Region. Peter has been working for the past thirty years as an artist, instructor, curator, set designer and event organizer. Most recently know as the local organizer for Art Battle Canada, Peter has consistently focused on helping fellow artists advance their skills and find new audiences.. 

The number of Soldier On participants is limited to 10.

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA: Any serving member or veteran of the Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) from the Eastern ON Pembroke and North Bay regions  who acquired a permanent physical or mental health illness or injury while enrolled as a member of the CAF; whether attributable or not to service.

Selected Serving members will require the approval of their Chain of Command to participate. 

DRAFT SCHEDULE OF EVENTS: 4,5,6 November 2025  *Same schedule for all sessions.*

0900 – Welcome briefing and introductions;
0910 – Class begins; and
1200 – Class ends and wrap up.

TRANSPORTATION & MEALS:
Participants are advised that meals and transportation will not be provided by Soldier On for this event. Participants will be required to arrange their own travel to and from the event location, travel and meals are not eligible for reimbursement for this event.
