Kitchen Creations Event - Fredericton, NB

The application period for Soldier On members wishing to participate in the Kitchen Creations event, 6, 13, 20, 17 of November 2025 is now open. The application deadline is 15 October.

AIM AND SCOPE OF EVENT: 
This four-week Kitchen Series invites Soldier On members to build confidence and skills in the kitchen while exploring a variety of cooking techniques. Each week will focus on a different theme: mastering BBQ prep, creating sourdough from scratch, making handmade pasta and sauce, and learning the basics of baking.  

The number of Soldier On participants is limited to 12.

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA: 
Any serving member or veteran of the Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) from the Fredericton and surrounding area) who acquired a permanent physical or mental health illness or injury while enrolled as a member of the CAF; whether attributable or not to service.

Selected Serving members will require the approval of their Chain of Command to participate. 

DRAFT SCHEDULE OF EVENTS:

Every Thursday for 4 weeks (6, 13, 20, 27 November 2025) 

Time:1000hrs-1200hrs.

Themes: 

• Week 1: BBQ prep. 
• Week 2:  Sourdough. 
• Week 3:  Handmade Pasta & Sauce. 
• Week 4: Baking 101

TRANSPORTATION & MEALS:
Participants are advised that meals and transportation will not be provided by Soldier On for this event. Participants will be required to arrange their own travel to and from the event location, travel and meals are not eligible for reimbursement for this event.

Mental & Physical Requirements:
Applicants must be able to tolerate 2 hours of light paced activity. Due to the busy activity schedule, applicants must have a limited requirement for rest throughout the day. 

Participants should be able to follow instructions, and work comfortably in a shared kitchen with common ingredients. The series requires standing and moving between stations, lifting up to 10–15 lbs (5–7 kg), using hand dexterity for chopping and kneading, and tolerating warm areas near ovens and grills.

Applicants will be joined with other ill/injured members and civilians, and therefore should be able to function in a social environment.
