Cycle Spin Classes in Ottawa, ON

Soldier On, in collaboration with Wheelhouse Cycle will host a series of spin classes on Fridays, March 4-18 in Ottawa, ON. This activity will bring together both serving and retired ill/injured CAF members, allowing participants to connect through peer support and encourage a healthy and active lifestyle.

This event will allow for 12 ill/injured serving or retired members of the Canadian Armed Forces to participate in upbeat spinning classes with expert instruction, coaching and motivation.

The aim of this activity is to provide an opportunity for both serving and veteran ill/injured CAF members to participate in three private 50-minute classes in Ottawa’s premier boutique spin studio. Classes are led by qualified instructors and are designed to challenge the body by incorporating speed, endurance, and targeted movements for full-body toning all in a great environment with upbeat and exciting music.

This event is open to all levels but will move at a pace comfortable for beginners.

All equipment will be provided including spin shoes. Members will require appropriate gym attire and their own water and towel.

  • 11:40 a.m. – Welcome briefing and introductions;
  • 11:45 a.m. – Issue shoe rentals and set up bikes;
  • noon – Spin class begins;
  • 12:50 p.m. – Class ends; and
  • 1 p.m. – Wrap-up.
The number of Soldier On participants is limited to 12.

Minimum eligibility criteria
Any serving member or veteran of the Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) from the National Capital Region (NCR) who acquired a permanent physical or mental health illness or injury while enrolled as a member of the CAF; whether attributable or not to service.

Serving Members
Medical clearance may be required by your chain of command.

Mental & Physical Requirements
  • Participants must be able to tolerate one hour of moderate to high paced activities for one session per week for three weeks in a row.
  • Participants will be joined with other ill/injured members and civilians, and therefore should be able to function in a social environment.
  • Participants must be able to cycle on a stationary bike without issue or must not be in violation of their MELs.
Deadline for Nomination Forms.  Must be received by Soldier On no later than the 24th of February 2022.
