Atlantic Summer Sport Camp Event - Halifax, NS
The application period for Soldier On members wishing to participate in the Atlantic Summer Sport Camp, 9-13 June 2025 is now open.
The application deadline is 14 May 2025.
AIM AND SCOPE OF EVENT:
Join us for a fun and supportive 3-day Soldier On event packed with outdoor adventure and connection. You’ll take part in a 8 km hike, 30km bike ride, surfing, yoga, and paddle sports—all designed to be accessible and adaptable for different ability levels. Whether you're new to these activities or have some experience, this is a great chance to challenge yourself, build confidence, and share the experience with others. With guidance from knowledgeable instructors and a strong sense of teamwork throughout, it’s all about showing up, giving it a go, and having a great time outdoors.

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA:
Any serving member or veteran of the Canadian Armed Forces (CAF)
from Atlantic Canada, NB, PE, NS, NL who acquired a permanent physical or mental health illness or injury while enrolled as a member of the CAF; whether attributable or not to service.

Serving members will require the approval of their Chain of Command to participate.
NOTE FOR SERVING MEMBERS: The selection of serving members for activities outside their local regions for which members will be on TD will align with CAF direction on financial expenditures.

TRANSPORTATION & MEALS:
Travel assistance will be provided and coordinated by the Soldier On Regional Coordinator in conjunction with Soldier On Operations. The most economical means of transportation to and from events will be prioritized and discussed with members via the event OPI or delegate.
Mental & Physical Requirements:
Applicants must be able to tolerate 8+ hours of moderate to high paced activities for 3 days in a row. Due to the busy activity schedule, applicants must have a limited requirement for rest throughout the day.
Activities will have different physical requirements, activities with specifics requirements are listed below.
Participants must understand that they will participate in all scheduled activities. Some activities will require participants to wear a lifejacket at all times when they in and around water.
Participants will be required to do a wet entry onto their paddle board and surfboard using their own strength with some assistance from staff if required.
During the cycling session participants will be required to peddle 25-30 km's on a flat, smooth trail at a recreational pace.
During the hiking session participants will hike 7-8km's on a somewhat rugged, muddy, uneven, rocky terrain carrying their own small pack with water, snacks and necessities.
Applicants will be joined with other ill/injured members and civilians, and therefore should be able to function in a social environment. Applicants are advised that the accommodations, meals and some activities for this event is be located at Canadian Armed Forces bases/facilities, and thus they may be exposed to a day-to-day military environment.
Applicants also acknowledge that there will be no alcohol allowed in the accommodations, and may be required to share accommodations.
