National Ski Camp 2020
Soldier On will be hosting a Ski Camp in Comox, BC from 26 – 31 January 2020.
This activity will bring together both serving and retired ill/injured CAF members, allowing participants to connect through peer support and encourage a healthy and active lifestyle.
The aim of this activity is to provide an opportunity for both serving and Veteran ill/injured CAF members to use the sport of skiing as part of their recovery, rehabilitation, and reintegration. Regardless of the current skill level, the participants will receive expert instruction in both downhill and cross-country skiing.
Ill/injured members will be introduced to downhill and cross country skiing and days will be comprised of 5-7 hours of moderate to high paced activities; and
Assistance throughout the event will be provided courtesy of Vancouver Island Society for Adaptive Snowsports (VISAS).
The number of Soldier On participants is limited to sixteen.
Any serving member or veteran of the Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) from anywhere in Canada who acquired a permanent physical or mental health illness or injury while enrolled as a member of the CAF; whether attributable or not to service.
Medical clearance may be required from your chain of command.
Participants will be joined with other ill/injured members and civilians, and therefore should be able to function in a social environment. Participants also acknowledge that there will be no alcohol allowed in the accommodations, and will be required to share accommodations.
Training will occur IAW MELs and be fully adaptive in nature. Participants must be able to do 5-7 hours of moderate to high paced activity a day. Due to busy activity schedule, applicants must have a limited requirement for rest throughout the day.
