Intro to Sewing - Oromocto, NB

The application period for Soldier On members wishing to participate in the Introduction of Sewing, 24 Oct. - 14 Nov. is now open. The application deadline is 6 October.

AIM AND SCOPE OF EVENT:
Soldier On will be partnering with Pivoting Studio to offer 4 weekly sessions for 2 groups of 4 participants where they will learn different sewing techniques and work on 3 projects throughout the program.

The number of Soldier On participants is limited to 8.

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA: 
Any serving member or veteran of the Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) from within 1 hour of the Oromocto area who acquired a permanent physical or mental health illness or injury while enrolled as a member of the CAF; whether attributable or not to service.

Selected Serving members will require the approval of their Chain of Command to participate. 

DRAFT SCHEDULE OF EVENTS:
Tuesdays 24, 31 Oct, 7, 14 Nov. from 1000hrs-1200hrs
or
Thursday 26 Oct, 2, 9, 16 Nov. from 1000hrs-1200hrs

Each 2 hours session will included an instructional lessons and hand on practice of the skills taught during that session.

Projects will include: a drawstring backpack/bag, pocket pillow, and zipper bag.

TRANSPORTATION & MEALS:
Participants are advised that meals and transportation will not be provided by Soldier On for this event. Participants will be required to arrange their own travel to and from the event location, travel and meals are not eligible for reimbursement for this event.

Mental & Physical Requirements:
Applicants must be able to tolerate 2 hours of light paced activity. Due to the busy activity schedule, applicants must have a limited requirement for rest throughout the day. 

Participants must be able to sit for a period of 2 hours with minimal breaks.

Applicants will be joined with other ill/injured members and civilians, and therefore should be able to function in a social environment.
