Intro to Archery-Thunder Bay, ON

The application period for Soldier On members wishing to participate in the Introduction to Archery event to be conducted on November 20/21, 2023 in NW Ontario is now open. The application deadline is 1600 hrs on October 20th, 2023.

AIM AND SCOPE OF EVENT: 
Soldier On, in collaboration with Lakehead Archers, is hosting the “Introduction to Archery” event in Rosslyn, NW Ontario. This will be a two-day event held on Monday, 20 Nov & Tuesday, 21 Nov 2023. Participants will be introduced to the traditional recurve bow and the compound bow.

The number of Soldier On participants is limited to four (4).

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA: 
Any serving member or veteran of the Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) from the Thunder Bay, NW ON geographical area who acquired a permanent physical or mental health illness or injury while enrolled as a member of the CAF; whether attributable or not to service.

Selected Serving members will require the approval of their Chain of Command to participate. 

Participants must be able to tolerate two (2) hours of moderate paced activities and must be able to draw the string on a bow at shoulder height without issue or being in violation of their MELs. Due to the busy activity schedule, applicants must have a limited requirement for rest throughout the day.

Participants will be joined with other ill/injured members and civilians, and therefore should be able to function in a social environment.

Monday, November 20, 2023
1815-1830 hrs: Participants arrive at Lakehead Archers, Welcome address and Photo
1830-2030 hrs: Conduct event - Introduction to Archery - Recurve Bow
2030 hrs: Depart

Tuesday, November 21, 2023
1815-1830 hrs: Participants arrive at Lakehead Archers
1830-2030 hrs: Conduct event - Introduction to Archery - Compound Bow
2030 hrs: Depart

TRANSPORTATION & MEALS:
Participants are advised that meals and transportation will not be provided by Soldier On for this event. Participants will be required to arrange their own travel to and from the event location, travel and meals are not eligible for reimbursement for this event.
